After me and my sister started the BB, Stephanie was one of my first trades. Its was for a friend of mine, who I gave it to at her baby shower. After my gift was opened, all you could hear amongst the guests were "Ohhhhs & Awwws"!!! My friend later told me in private that it was her favorite baby gift! Father's Day is just around the corner (June 20th) and my kids love making their Dad cards. This year we're going to try these Shirt & Tie cards.

Bartering 101

Here's our top 3 tips when Bartering...

1) "Get it Listed". It is most helpful to have a website/blog/"etsy" store to showcase what you want to barter, with the price or cost listed clearly near it. This makes it simple for others to see what your products/services are so they can decide if it is something they want to barter for.

2) "Plan Ahead". Figure out what you want in return first. For example, if you see something another seller is offering for $5, you can ask them if they would like to look at your web shop and pick out $5 worth of something in return for their wares.

3) "Don't Take It Personally". You shouldn't be disappointed if someone turns you down. There are plenty of others who will like what you have to offer. The same goes for when you are asked to barter for something, and you're not interested. It's not a problem to say "no thank you at this time".

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. Family, friends, and food--who could ask for more? I saw this simple centerpiece idea today at Good Housekeeping and thought I'd share the creativity.

GH says, "Once your dinner is over, you can pour all of the nuts into one big bowl for everyone to enjoy while watching the football game. Don't forget to supply nutcrackers!"

Charlie Cloths has been chosen as our October trade of the month!

Charlie Cloths was created by Rachelle, who mainly makes nursing covers, but sometimes when people see something on her "She's Crafty" blog, they will order it! She is more than happy to sell her creations and is always willing to give you a deal. Her business was inspired by a long bout of postpartum depression after her first son was born, almost two years ago.

Rachelle says, "I was trying to make new hobbies for myself, and I made my first nursing cover, and LOVED it! I couldn't leave the house without it! After that, I named my little business Charlie Cloths- after my baby boy. Then I started my craft blog, and just started posting about different things that I had made. It is something that really brought me out of my depression, and I was able to focus on creativity, and finding inspiration, while, hopefully inspiring others along the way. I am now expecting my second baby boy, in December, and I feel comfort in knowing that I have found a way to cope, creatively with postpartum depression, if it happens again!"

Rachelle not only offers nursing covers, but she is quite the seamstress! She is known to make aprons, tote bags, handmade teddy bears and much much more! Rachelle says, "I just love trading! Since joining BB, I have traded with many of the other trades on their website. It's been a lot of fun, and it's a great way to save a few bucks!"

Here at the BB we've chosen Emmie Cakes as our September trade of the month!

Emmie Cakes was created by Tina, a stay at home mom to four funny, cute kids. She loves to travel with her family and to plan fun, unique parties.

Tina says, "I have always loved to scrapbook and create new and fun things for my home and family. I am always looking for a way to justify buying great scrapbooking supplies and that is when I came up with my idea for Emmie Cakes. I started by making a banner for my daughters birthday and loved it so much I made another and another and it just snowballed from there. I then realized that I could sell them on my blog and hence myemmiecakes.blogspot.com was created. Emmie Cakes is my creative outlet and hope that you will enjoy the amazing products."

Emmie Cakes Products are great for decorating for the holidays or adding charm and fun to any festivity. They are made from heavy duty cardstock and beautifully designed patterned paper and are tied together with a variety of coordinating ribbon, yarn and tulle. The banners are about 6 feet in length and the size of the squares and circles is approximately 5 1/2 inches. All banners come assembled or in kit form.

And that's not all! Tina has some new products too--Hot Blocks! These blocks are made of wood, painted and then covered with patterned paper.
